Blossom on a Budget - Flower Arrangement Workshop in Heemstede, Netherlands

Why Try Flower Arranging?

Even after four years, I am still at my happiest and the most peaceful when I handle flowers. I love every part of the experience. The process prior to the actual arranging – harvesting, buying, prepping, imagining - can be quite exciting on its own. But it’s when I am finally in my flow - where I let my hands do as they would without much conscious effort – that the magic happens. My worries disappear and my heart lifts as I face my floral creation.

Our Affordable Flower Course for Beginners

If you haven’t tried flower arrangement, you have to. It’s really that good. The sensory pleasure is almost overwhelming. The creative process keeps your thoughts laser focused. And the pride you feel about yourself as you admire and enjoy your creation for the coming days – that’s priceless. That’s why we really gave some thoughts in order to bring this uplifting hobby to you in an affordable way especially as we are located in the Bulb Region (bollenstreek) in the Netherlands. From late August onwards, we will be offering flower courses for beginners at a surprisingly reasonable price.

What You’ll Learn in Our Workshop

The course is composed of five topics all essential to the floral design – colors, shape, hand-tied bouquet creation, floral crown and other floral crafts and a big vase bouquet creation with seasonal flowers. And within these, we will cover many useful tips. If you are from outside of the Netherlands, you’d know how abundant and affordable Dutch flowers are. And our Heemstede studio being only 15 minutes away from Keukenhof, we must take advantage of this environment we are in!

How We Keep Costs Low

Because most flower workshops are simply too extravagant, this awesome hobby has become a bit of a luxury experience. Well, it can be in London or Paris where flowers are easily twice more expensive. But here in Heemstede, within the bulb district and among many flower fields, we should be able to find a way. After some deep investigation we devised a thorough yet easy-to-follow flower course with less burden on the wallet.  Here are why we can afford this.

-       Within the course, there are three bring-your-own-flowers sessions. It’s upto you and your budget to bring 25-30 flowers for these sessions, which will be about half of the flowers needed for those days. We will cover how to buy and source flowers this way and we will also lower the cost fee, catching two birds with one stone.

-       We use flowers from many different sources – in addition to Haarlem market and wholesalers, we also source from gardens and farms.

-       We are operating from our home studio and thus pay no rent.

I believe that flower arrangement should be more affordable, available and widely enjoyed. It’s a great activity for your physical health but most of all, for your mental sanity. Intimate time spent with beautiful flowers will do a surprising amount of calming and healing for your soul.

Floral Workshop Schedule and Group Size

We have prepared weekend course for this. The detailed schedule can be found here.  As we are just starting out, we have only opened a few time slots. But if you are a group of 4-5 people and would like to suggest a time slot that fits your group’s schedule, you can always contact us via email and share your desired time slots.

Our flower workshop group size will be 4-5. And that gives everyone the personal attention adequate for ample tips and guides. The workshop is hosted in our garden studio at J.H.Weissenbruchweg 7, Heemstede. Sufficient free parking space around the address.

What Other Participants Say

I have done many workshops over the last two years. Here are a few Google reviews from the participants. Of course you can find all of them yourself on the internet.

“My friend and I had a wonderful time creating a floral bowl arrangement under Sujin’s guidance. Obviously passionate about flowers from cultivation to arrangement, Sujin shared her process with us as we co-created beautiful arrangements. I highly recommend this experience to anyone, whether a beginner or more expert and even as a fun activity to do among friends or family.”

“We had a wonderful, relaxed and very interesting workshop. We learned a lot and had a great time. If you want to attend a special, very personal workshop, we recommend this one! Thank you, Sujin for sharing your creativity and knowledge with us! ”

Benefits of Learning Flower Arranging

So what will you get out of the workshop?  How will it change the way you enjoy flowers? If, as a flower enthusiast, your monthly flower budget has been 50 EUR per month (12.5 per week x 4), you would be able to make that 50 EUR give you x2, x3, x4 times more enjoyment and satisfaction moving forward. Because you will be able to create more diverse types of bouquets with improved floral design and have a lot more fun while arranging it. Just one danger though - your flower budget might increase slightly afterwards. I’ve seen this happen. 

So my fellow flower lovers, I suggest that you get yourself off the phone and Instagram, move your body to get busy with flowers through joining my workshop. In no other place, will you be able to experience floral fun and bouquet creation with such a humble budget.

We all need more soft petals, delicate tendrils and hairy seedpods in our lives and they are here waiting for you.
