I am Sujin, a Korean florist in the Netherlands

I grow flowers in my garden and always search for flower farms to source flowers from. I create pre-ordered bouquets and host flower workshops in Heemstede, Netherlands.

In 2025, we are introducing 2 & 3 & 5 day Dutch Flower Experiences where I combine great Dutch flower tours with flower workshops and Korean culinary experience from my kitchen.

I am so excited that I get to share my great love for Dutch flowers as well as a part of Korean culture within my life in the Netherlands. Come and experience what it’s like to grow, cut, buy and arrange flowers in this floral paradise

A Flowering Story

My floral life was ushered in with COVID19.

When the lockdown started in 2020, tending to my long-neglected garden was how I filled those extra hours every day. Situated near the seaside in Heemstede in the Netherlands, our garden was an ideal plant experimental lab to try and grow flowers. I got started with dahlias, then to bulbs and incorporated annuals from seeds. I started to build a library of gardening books to learn the skills and knowledge around plants. There, I came across books with beautiful floral designs and ways to bring in the beauty of the season into the house. From then on, I have been expanding the cut flower borders in my yard, while working on my floral design skills. The growing of plants and then using them as the medium and inspiration for my art - that became my biggest pleasure, almost an obsession.

At the same time, living in the Netherlands has allowed me to be spoilt when it comes to being surrounded by floral inspirations. Each spring, I attend the Keukenhof tulip festival. And in late summer, I make weekly trips to the dahlia farms near my home, filling buckets with freshly cut blooms. Sometimes, I'll dart off for a couple hours to visit the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum, immersing myself in the compositions and colors of the Dutch masters. The floral arrangements and structures depicted in 17th century Dutch still life paintings continue to captivate and inspire countless florists, myself included.

When I shared these experiences with my florist friends from other places, they've all expressed how special and fulfilling this kind of lifestyle must be. And after 5 years of living this way, I'm starting to see what they mean. The joy of tending to my garden, sourcing from the local cutting flower farms, and translating those elements into my floral designs - it really is extraordinary.

Inspired by much encouragements, I've put together something uniquely ‘Dutch’ in terms of experiencing flowers - experiecnes beyond just workshops and much more than just tours. And I am happy to include this into my wuite of floral offerings.

My flower journey gave me joy and discovery beyond my expectation. My hope is that I can bring that kind of beauty and joy to those around me through flowers!
